The Success Stories of Some of Our NDIS Participants

Seven to eight months back, 16-year-old Phillip, living with mobility impairments joined us. He and his parents talked to us and shared their details and we employed a support worker dedicatedly to assist Philip in his journey to and from his college, to his violin classes and various community-based gatherings. Our support worker not only helped Philli in travelling but turned out to be someone whom Phillip could share things with. Ever since Ted, the support worker, has been with Phillip for the last 8 months, he is a changed person now, with a lot of confidence and ability to travel here and there. Our holistic support helps Phillip with the ability to lead his life with independence, though Philip now always likes to have Ted at his side when he travels. Philip now frequently plays in choirs and college ceremonies, performs solo with confidence, and regularly attends his classes. He is now leading a great life. It has changed drastically over the last 6 months or so ever since he is a member of our family.

A year or so back, we welcomed 45-year-old Wiliam on board as he has certain cognitive impairments, which restricted him from leading an independent and free life. Our supportive team took some time to ascertain the precise support needs of William, and to understand the challenges and goals of his life. Then we picked up a support worker, with immense experience to deal with issues that William had and engaged him to serve William. All that William needed was some confidence on his back, care and compassion along with constant support. One year on, William is a different person now, doing virtually everything – taking a driver’s learning course, going to a departmental store to help its owner manage cash, meeting friends, and relatives and living with a lot of joy! Though he still turns to his support worker for every suggestion like he does to his other family members, he is happy with his life.
